Yes, you can buy from Wayfair and ship to Ghana by using a U.S. package forwarding service like Global Shopaholics. Wayfair USA delivers only within the United States, so Ghanaians need a U.S. shipping address; Global Shopaholics provides this address, receives your Wayfair purchases, and ships them to your address in Ghana. Here’s how to navigate buying, shipping, costs, and delivery smoothly from Wayfair to Ghana, plus what every Ghanaian shopper must consider before making an order.
Quick Guide: Buying from Wayfair and Shipping to Ghana
- Wayfair USA does not ship directly to Ghana: You’ll need a U.S. shipping address and package forwarding.
- Use a reliable forwarding service: Services like Global Shopaholics can help you buy, combine packages, and manage shipments to Ghana.
- Shipping cost and availability vary: Total cost depends on package weight, size, delivery speed, and customs rules in Ghana.
- Be aware of product restrictions: Some furniture and home items may be restricted for export/import or require special documentation.
- Prepare for customs duties: Ghana applies import duties and taxes on international shipments; know the rules before buying.
Why Shipping from Wayfair USA to Ghana Is Not Straightforward
Ghanaian shoppers looking for home furniture and décor often find Wayfair’s selection and prices very attractive. However, Wayfair USA ships only to U.S. addresses—not to international destinations, including Ghana. This limitation means Ghanaian buyers can browse and shop, but can’t enter a Ghana delivery address at checkout. Using a forwarding service is essential for Ghanaians who want to access products from Wayfair USA.
Other potential challenges include:
- International payment restrictions (some cards issued in Ghana may not be accepted)
- Varying delivery charges for heavy/large items
- Customs clearance and duties in Ghana
- Furniture-specific restrictions or documentation requirements
Understanding these hurdles helps you get your order faster and avoid unnecessary costs or delays.
What Ghanaian Shoppers Need to Know Before Buying from Wayfair USA
If you want to buy from Wayfair and ship to Ghana, there are some important details to consider:
- Wayfair Account: Anyone can create a Wayfair US account and order items, but a U.S. shipping address is needed at checkout.
- Product Range: Some household items (especially those containing batteries or liquids) may not be eligible for international shipping due to export/import restrictions. Double-check product restrictions before finalizing payment.
- Payment Methods: If Wayfair declines non-U.S. credit cards, you may need an assisted purchase service (where the forwarder buys on your behalf).
- Freight and Delivery Fees: Larger items like sofas, dressers, and bed frames incur higher international shipping charges due to their size and weight—get quotes in advance.
- Customs and Duties: Ghana Customs will assess import duties on most new goods. Review the Ghana Revenue Authority import procedures or contact your freight forwarder for help.
- Shipping Timeline: Final delivery time depends on U.S. domestic shipping, forwarding processing, international transit, and Ghana customs clearance.
Buying from Wayfair USA is possible—just be prepared for the multi-step process.
Wayfair Shipping Limitations for Ghana: What to Expect
Wayfair’s own shipping covers only U.S. addresses. That means:
- You cannot select Ghana as a shipping country at checkout.
- Some items on Wayfair are sold by third-party sellers who might have their own shipping policies—still, direct delivery to Ghana is very rare.
- Large or assembled furniture, lithium batteries, specific wood or plant-based decor, and aerosol products are commonly restricted or need approval for export/import.
Always confirm that your chosen products can be shipped internationally. If you’re set on a product, but Wayfair won’t deliver it to Ghana, a package forwarding service is required.

What Are the Costs for Shipping Wayfair Items from USA to Ghana?
The cost to ship from Wayfair USA to Ghana depends on several variables:
- Weight & Dimensions: Larger or heavier furniture increases shipping costs.
- Type of Service: Air freight to Ghana is faster but generally pricier than ocean/cargo shipping.
- Destination in Ghana: Urban delivery (like Accra) may be less expensive than rural areas.
- Package Consolidation: Forwarders like Global Shopaholics can combine several smaller orders to reduce fees.
- Additional Services: Storing, photographing, or assisted purchase may incur extra fees.
Use a shipping calculator like the Global Shopaholics Calculator to get an accurate quote. Expect to pay for:

- Any customs duties, taxes, and delivery upon arrival
Always confirm rates before you place your Wayfair order. Many buyers find that consolidating packages provides the cheapest way to ship to Ghana.
Delivery Timeframes: What to Expect When Shipping to Ghana
Once your Wayfair order reaches your forwarding address, timing depends on your chosen delivery method, customs clearance in Ghana, and the speed of the local courier. Typical transit options include:
| Shipping Method | Average Transit Time (US to Ghana) | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Express Air Freight | 4–7 business days | Fastest but most expensive option for urgent shipments |
| Standard Air Cargo | 8–14 business days | Balance of speed and cost, used for most home goods |
| Ocean Freight / Sea Cargo | 30–45 days | Cheapest for bulky items, but slowest and not always available for all packages |
Tip: Allow extra time for customs clearance, especially during holidays or peak shopping seasons. Delivery windows are estimates; always confirm with your forwarder.
Understanding Customs, Duties, and Import Restrictions in Ghana
All shipments entering Ghana must clear customs and may be subject to VAT, import duties, and inspection. Here’s what you should know:
- Documentation: A commercial invoice and shipment details must be provided with your goods.
- Duties and Taxes: Most furniture and household goods are dutiable. Check the Ghana Revenue Authority’s import procedures and duties page for current rates.
- Prohibited/Restricted Items: Certain electronics, plants, or items made of wood may require permits. Confirm specifics with your shipper or customs agent.
- Unexpected Charges: Shipments that don’t comply with local rules may be delayed, returned, or incur storage penalties.
Careful planning and using an experienced forwarding partner minimizes customs headaches.
