Why International Shoppers Struggle with Black Friday Game Console Deals
Black Friday brings the steepest discounts of the year on gaming consoles, but most of the best deals are at major US retailers like Amazon, Walmart, Best Buy, and Target. Unfortunately, these stores rarely ship game consoles directly overseas, or they exclude many countries, leaving international shoppers locked out of Black Friday’s lowest prices.
Even if you can fill your cart, you might hit obstacles like rejected international credit cards, expensive shipping rates (when available), or online stores refusing your billing address. US-exclusive bundles, flash sales, and doorbusters can be especially hard to access outside America, making it a true challenge to score consoles like the PlayStation, Xbox, or Nintendo Switch from abroad.
What Global Shoppers Need to Know for Black Friday Video Game Console Deals
Before jumping into your Black Friday hunt, it’s crucial to get familiar with a few key points:
- US Black Friday sales start early and end fast: Many retailers begin online deals as early as Thanksgiving week, with the best offers often running out in hours.
- Console restocks and drops are limited: Popular models (like PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X) can sell out quickly. Set up accounts and alerts in advance.
- Not all retailers ship internationally: Walmart, Best Buy, Target, and Costco typically only ship consoles within the US. Amazon does ship some products overseas, but Black Friday consoles often have US-shipping only restrictions.
- Payment challenges can occur: Most US stores require a US billing address for credit cards and may not accept PayPal or international cards for Black Friday sale events.
- Taxes and customs vary by country: Check your country’s import rules for video game consoles, including allowed models, permitted value, and applicable taxes or duties.
Success depends on being prepared and using a reliable US package forwarding service.

| Walmart | Online-only bundles, price drops (often exclusive to US shoppers) | No direct international shipping for consoles |
| Best Buy | Discounts on new and previous-gen consoles; bundles with extra games/accessories | No direct international shipping for consoles |
| Target | Doorbusters and in-store/online combos (can sell out within hours) | Rarely ships consoles outside the US |
Tip: An early online account, preset wishlists, and retailer-specific shopping hacks can help you secure a deal before they vanish.

Cost Factors: Estimating Shipping, Taxes, and Additional Charges
When buying Black Friday video game consoles from the US, it’s smart to review all cost factors before completing your order:
- Product Price: Check if the Black Friday deal includes sales tax (some US states add this at checkout; Global Shopaholics offers a tax-free US address in Delaware).
- International Shipping Fees: Use the shipping calculator to estimate charges based on weight, dimensions, and destination country. Heavier consoles cost more to ship.
- Customs Duties, Import Taxes, and VAT: Most countries tax imported electronics. Rates, thresholds, and item restrictions vary—check government websites or contact local customs for the latest info.
- Optional Services: Services such as package consolidation, extra storage time, or repackaging incur small additional fees but often save overall shipping costs.
