What’s the Main Challenge? Why Can’t Zara Ship to Puerto Rico Directly?
Zara is one of the world’s most popular fast-fashion brands, with a large fanbase in Puerto Rico. Although Puerto Rico is a US territory, many US-based online stores—including Zara—treat it as an “international” shipping destination. This means:
- Puerto Rico addresses often aren’t accepted at checkout on Zara’s US web store.
- The main Zara site and its shipping FAQ currently show the 50 US states as eligible, but not Puerto Rico for standard home delivery.
- This has led to real frustration for shoppers trying to access new collections, wardrobe staples, or Zara Home inventory quickly from Puerto Rico.
Other major US retailers such as Amazon and Walmart serve Puerto Rico shoppers more consistently, but Zara’s direct-to-PR shipping is still limited or unavailable much of the year.
What Shoppers in Puerto Rico Need to Know About Zara Online Orders
Before you try to purchase items from Zara online in Puerto Rico, keep these topics in mind:
- The Zara US website will not accept a Puerto Rico address at checkout for standard delivery in most cases.
- You cannot opt for “store pickup” in Puerto Rico, as there are no Zara brick-and-mortar locations on the island.
- International shipping from Zara.com is region-restricted: If you switch to Zara’s Puerto Rico website or select another region, you may see different items, prices, and very limited shipping options.
- If you have a friend or family member address in the US mainland, you could potentially ship there and then arrange private delivery to Puerto Rico—but this is often impractical and unreliable for frequent shoppers.
The good news is, you can use a package forwarding service to overcome these restrictions and get Zara products in Puerto Rico without hassle. Here’s how the process works in real-world steps.
Zara Shipping Limitations and Checkout Problems for Puerto Rico
Let’s look at some of the most common problems customers report when attempting to shop Zara online from Puerto Rico:
- Checkout blocks: At the final step, the “state” dropdown does not accept “PR” or “Puerto Rico.”
- Address validation fails: Puerto Rico zip codes are often rejected by the US store.
- Limited courier availability: Some US-to-PR deliveries via express courier may cost more, be slower, or be excluded entirely due to contract restrictions between Zara and its couriers.
- Gift cards and payment: Sometimes Zara-branded or generic gift cards tied to “stateside” billing addresses are needed for payment acceptance.
- Product restrictions: Certain Zara Home items, beauty, or fragrance products may fall under hazardous materials restrictions for air shipment.
These challenges are why many shoppers in Puerto Rico turn to reliable package forwarding services for cross-border shipping and full access to Zara’s latest assortments.

- Certain Zara Home items (furniture, mirrors, etc.): May exceed regular courier weight or length restrictions. Contact the freight forwarding team for large shipments.
- Perfumes and beauty products: Flammable/hazardous items require special handling and may not be accepted via all couriers.
- Batteries or electronics with built-in batteries: May require special parcels and customs documentation.
- Gift cards or vouchers: Some are not transferable or usable outside the initial destination.
- Trying to check out with a Puerto Rico address directly on Zara.com/us: It will almost always fail and delay your order.
- Not checking size/weight restrictions: Especially for Zara Home and large items. Use the shipping calculator.
- Ignoring forwarding service notifications: Sometimes a photo or update is required to confirm address or payment details.
- Missing package consolidation: Ship several orders together and save on international shipping fees.
- Not reviewing Puerto Rico import and customs guidelines: Update yourself at Customs Puerto Rico.
