Why Can Buying from Etsy and Shipping to Ireland Be Frustrating?
U.S. Etsy is full of handmade, vintage, unique decor, craft supplies, personalized gifts, and bespoke items you can’t always find in Irish or European shops. However, many Etsy sellers on the U.S. platform don’t offer international shipping, or their listed rates to Ireland may be expensive, slow, or unavailable for your item category. If you try to check out with an Irish address, you might see “This item can’t be shipped to your location”—a common roadblock for Irish Etsy fans.
So, is there a smart workaround to get your dream item from a U.S. Etsy seller shipped reliably to Ireland? Yes: use package forwarding, where you first send orders to your own U.S. address, then forward them to your Irish home.
Etsy Shipping Options: What Shoppers in Ireland Need to Know
When you shop on Etsy from Ireland, you’ll notice that not every seller offers shipping to Ireland, and even popular sellers can limit the countries they dispatch to. This makes it tricky to access the endless selection on Etsy.com meant for U.S. customers. Here’s what matters:
- Check the item’s shipping section: Many sellers only offer U.S. shipping as default. Some may offer international shipping at a much higher cost or with limited tracking.
- Custom or bulky items (like furniture, art, and crafts) almost always ship within the U.S. only.
- Gift items and holiday collections often have deadlines for U.S. addresses only.
- Even if a seller offers shipping to Ireland, the delivery times and rates may be less reliable.
- International returns or replacements are usually more complicated and costly.
If you see an item you want but get a location error at checkout, or the shipping fee is exceptionally high, a package forwarding service helps you access almost all U.S. items—no matter seller preferences.
Can Etsy US Ship Directly to Ireland?
Some Etsy sellers will ship internationally, including to Ireland, but this is fully at the seller’s discretion. When they do, the shipping price is often much higher and delivery times may be unpredictable. If you want to reliably buy from Etsy and ship to Ireland, especially for U.S.-only listings, collectibles, custom gifts, rare materials, or large/bulk orders, you’ll need a practical workaround. That’s where a reliable package forwarding company becomes essential.
How a U.S. Package Forwarder Bridges the Etsy to Ireland Gap
A service like Global Shopaholics gives you a real U.S. shipping address for free—so you can shop on Etsy as if you’re located in America. Your Etsy orders are delivered domestically to that address, and then Global Shopaholics consolidates and forwards your packages onto your real doorstep in Ireland. This opens up thousands of sellers and items otherwise blocked to international customers.
Since Etsy is especially popular for multi-seller carts (many items from different vendors), the ability to consolidate these into one cost-effective international parcel makes a big difference in your total shipping charges.

- Shipping Rates: Calculate your likely costs in advance using a shipping calculator—major couriers, package size/weight, and speed all affect pricing.

Cost to Ship from Etsy USA to Ireland: What to Expect
Shipping costs from the U.S. to Ireland depend on a few main factors:
- Parcel Weight & Size: Heavier and bulkier packages cost more (package consolidation can reduce volume).
- Shipping Method: Express delivery is faster but costs more; economy can take longer but save money.
- Courier/Carrier Choice: Rates and reliability can differ: Global Shopaholics works with several international carriers so you can compare options on each shipment.
- Insurance & Tracking: Often optional but recommended for valuable or custom Etsy orders.
Typical shipping costs for a small parcel (e.g., jewelry, crafts, vintage smalls) start from around $35–$65, but this can change by current U.S.-Ireland shipping rates, carrier, fuel surcharges, and seasonal fluctuations.
Larger shipments—including shipping large items to Ireland (furniture, bulk textiles, artwork, etc.)—should use freight forwarding and sea freight options for the best rates. Use the shipping calculator or request a quote for best accuracy.
