Why Irish Shoppers Want to Buy from Dicks Sporting Goods
For many Irish athletes, outdoor enthusiasts, and families, Dicks Sporting Goods offers a vast selection of specialty gear, limited-edition sneakers, performance clothing, and U.S.-exclusive brands that can be hard to find locally. Whether it’s baseball bats, basketball shoes, branded jerseys, camping equipment, or fitness tech, Dicks often has a better selection and lower prices than retailers available in Ireland. The challenge is getting these products shipped from the U.S. to your address in Ireland.
The Main Challenge: Dicks Sporting Goods Does Not Ship to Ireland
Dicks Sporting Goods (Dickssportinggoods.com) currently ships only within the United States and prohibits direct international delivery, including to Ireland. When you check out with an Irish shipping address, the site will not accept your order or offer a shipping quote. Even during sale events or product launches, Dicks’ checkout will only recognize valid U.S. addresses. This leaves Irish shoppers with two options: ask a friend in the U.S. for help, or use a professional U.S.-to-Ireland package forwarding service.
What Irish Customers Should Know Before Ordering Dicks Sporting Goods
Before purchasing, it’s important to understand:
- Product availability: Dicks Sporting Goods does not reserve items for international shoppers. High-demand products may sell out quickly.
- U.S. payment and address requirements: Some U.S. online stores do not accept non-U.S. payment cards or billing addresses. In such cases, an assisted purchase service can help.
- International shipping costs: Costs to send items from the USA to Ireland depend on the weight, size, item type, shipping carrier, and delivery speed. Use a shipping calculator to estimate the rates before you buy.
- Customs and duties, as rules in Ireland may require tax payment and import declarations. Check the Irish Customs website for the latest guidelines and duty rates.
- Product restrictions: Some items, such as lithium batteries, hunting gear, or aerosols, may have shipping limits or require special handling.
Considering these factors will help you avoid unexpected costs or delays when buying from Dicks Sporting Goods in Ireland.

Cost Considerations: Shipping Rates, Customs, and Potential Fees
The cost of shipping from USA to Ireland can vary depending on several factors:
- Parcel weight and dimensions: Larger or heavier packages from Dicks Sporting Goods—like gym equipment or golf bags—cost more to ship than apparel or smaller accessories.
- Chosen shipping speed: Express couriers typically charge higher rates for fast delivery, while standard or economy options are more affordable. Compare shipping rates from USA to Ireland before shipping.
- Consolidation savings: Combining several purchases in one box usually lowers the shipping price USA to Ireland per item.
- Insurance and tracking: You may choose to add package protection for high-value sports equipment or collectibles.
- Customs duties and VAT: Ireland applies VAT (currently 23%) on goods imported from outside the EU, plus any customs duty determined by product type and value. These are collected on arrival in Ireland. Learn more at Irish Revenue Customs.
Most shoppers find that sports apparel and smaller items are affordable to ship, but shipping large training equipment or bicycles from the USA to Ireland is best approached by comparing all available USA to Ireland shipping options. Global Shopaholics offers a range of couriers at different service levels (economy, priority, express, freight) and helps you make the best decision for your order.
Typical Problems When Shipping Dicks Sporting Goods Orders to Ireland
- Out-of-stock or U.S.-only products: Sometimes limited-release sports gear, footwear, or collectibles are available only to U.S. addresses.
- Non-acceptance of Irish cards: Dickssportinggoods.com may decline some Irish-issued payment cards or international cards, even when the order is shipping to a U.S. address.
- Shipping restrictions: Battery-powered items, self-defense products, and some branded sports gear may be restricted or need special paperwork for export/import.
- Bulky or heavy items: Freight shipping is needed for certain oversize purchases. Consider freight forwarding support if ordering large fitness machines or big outdoor gear.
- Surprise import charges: Not pre-calculating customs/VAT can result in unexpected bills before delivery.
For each issue above, Global Shopaholics offers solutions—assisted purchase for payment problems, package photos for order verification, multiple courier options, and expert assistance with packaging and documentation. Always review your order before shipping and check import rules for Ireland.
