Why Is It Difficult to Buy from Macys and Ship to Ghana Directly?
Many international shoppers in Ghana face frustration when trying to buy from Macys. Although Macy’s is one of the most popular U.S. retailers for fashion, beauty, home goods, and gifts, they do not offer standard international shipping to Ghana as of now. During checkout, most Ghanaian addresses are not accepted, and many items cannot be shipped abroad due to brand, carrier, or export restrictions.
Direct shipment barriers also include:
- Payment limitations (some Ghana cards are not accepted on Macys.com).
- High international shipping costs and no consolidation options.
- Risk of lost or delayed packages without tracking or customer service for international orders.
- Complicated customs clearance and unpredicted additional charges.
Fortunately, a package forwarding service like Global Shopaholics solves these problems and unlocks access to the full Macy’s store from Ghana. Here’s what Ghana shoppers need to know.

Cost to Ship from Macys USA to Ghana: What to Expect
Understanding your total costs upfront helps Ghana shoppers plan and avoid surprises. Here’s what you should budget for:
- Macy’s product price: The sales price, plus U.S. domestic shipping to your U.S. address (often free above certain amounts).
- International package forwarding fee: This is the core shipping to Ghana from USA cost, calculated by weight, dimensions, speed, and courier (DHL, FedEx, UPS, USPS, and others available via Global Shopaholics’ calculator).
- Optional services: Such as package consolidation, extra insurance, or repackaging for more savings on shipping costs.
- Customs duties and VAT: Required by Ghana Customs depending on category, value, and latest policies. Check GRA Ghana Customs Import Procedures for details.
Shipping rates to Ghana vary based on these factors and current courier prices. For example, shipping a light fashion parcel (under 1kg) may cost less with mail and more with express air freight to Ghana. Use the Global Shopaholics calculator to estimate for your package in advance.
Tip: Combine multiple Macy’s orders for package consolidation—this significantly lowers the cost to ship from Macy’s USA to Ghana compared to shipping each item one by one.
What Should Ghana Shoppers Double-Check Before Shipping?
- Recipient details: Make sure the Ghana address and contact number are correct for easy delivery.
- Customs rules: Get familiar with category-specific import duties and documentation. Each shipment will go through Ghana Customs (see guidelines).
- Prohibited or restricted items: Perfumes, aerosols, and batteries are often restricted for air freight to Ghana. Some brands or luxury goods may have export restrictions at time of purchase (always confirm at checkout).
- Tracking & insurance: Opt for couriers offering full tracking—this comes standard with most express and priority services but may vary.
For tricky situations (e.g., paying with Ghana-issued bank cards, buying sale-limited items, or grouping multiple store orders), the assisted purchase feature from Global Shopaholics often provides extra flexibility and assurance.
