Why Is It Difficult to Ship Shop Disney Items to Ghana?
Many Disney fans in Ghana search for unique merchandise, toys, collectibles, and apparel that are only available on ShopDisney.com in the United States. You may have seen exclusive Disney Parks collections, limited edition plush, or the newest Marvel movie toys that never show up in local malls. Unfortunately, Shop Disney’s official website does not offer international shipping to Ghana. This means, if you enter a Ghanaian delivery address, you’ll likely encounter a “Shipping not available” message at checkout.
This leaves many frustrated Disney collectors in Ghana asking: How can I buy from Shop Disney and ship to Ghana? The answer is package forwarding—a solution designed specifically for this scenario.
How Package Forwarding Lets You Shop Disney USA from Ghana
Package forwarding services empower shoppers in Ghana to purchase goods from any U.S.-only retail website (like Shop Disney) and receive their items at home. Here’s how the process works, step by step:
- You receive a free U.S.-based shipping address from a forwarding service.
- You enter this “virtual address” during checkout on ShopDisney.com.
- Once your order arrives at the U.S. warehouse, the forwarder inspects, repacks, and sends it to Ghana (and can consolidate multiple parcels into one).
- You pay international shipping, plus any duties or taxes charged at import.
This workaround is now the main way for Ghanaians to access official Disney Store products from the U.S. when there is no direct Shop Disney delivery option to Ghana.
What Shoppers in Ghana Need to Consider Before Ordering from Shop Disney USA
Before you place your first U.S. Disney Store order for shipping to Ghana, be sure you understand:
- Not all items can be shipped internationally. Some toys, battery-powered products, items with liquids, perfumes, or lithium batteries might be restricted or need special handling.
- There are extra costs. Besides the price on ShopDisney.com, you’ll pay for local USA delivery to your forwarding address, plus shipping from the USA to Ghana, plus local import fees, duties, and VAT in Ghana (see Ghana Customs for details).
- Delivery time can vary. You need to factor in both Shop Disney’s shipping to your U.S. address and the shipping time from the USA to Ghana. Transit times will depend on which international courier and service level you choose.
- Payment can be an issue. Shop Disney accepts major cards, but may decline some Ghanaian or African payment cards due to address mismatch. Forwarding services such as Global Shopaholics can help with “assisted purchase” if needed.
Shop Disney’s Shipping Options and Limitations for Ghana-Bound Orders
Shop Disney US currently does not ship directly to Ghana. Direct international shipping is limited to a few countries, and Ghana is not among them. Here’s what you need to know:
- Direct checkout to Ghana fails: You cannot enter a Ghana address.
- You must use a US address: Shop Disney products are delivered within the United States. You will need a parcel forwarding service to bridge the gap.
- Shipping restrictions: Shop Disney follows carrier and U.S. export rules. Some products (like aerosols, perfumes, and certain electronics) may be restricted from international or air shipment. Review Ghana Customs’ import guidelines before purchasing.
- Returns: Once a product leaves the USA, returns are more complex. Plan to keep your order unless the item is defective.
Sale events: U.S. sale periods such as Black Friday or Cyber Monday offer great deals, but these high-demand times may result in slower warehouse processing or couriers filling up quickly.
